	Our Garden - The Northern Lawn

In the north side of the garden we have planted hedges of Wild Privet (Ligustrum vulgare 'Atrovirens') to divide the area into three smaller rooms. The borders are also new, just as the Hornbeam hedges (Carpinus betulus) between the path along the house and the grass.

We also added some trees: an American Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), one Katsura Tree (Cercidiphyllum japonicum), a West Himalayan Birch (Betula utilis var. jacquemontii) and a Magnolia (can't find the label just now...).

Along the curve towards the car park we have Lavender 'Hidcote Blue' in front of the dark green hedge which makes a nice contrast. This picture was taken last year. The hedge is now about twice as high, creating a calm dark green background for the blue Lavender.

What used to be dull flat green area has become much more interesting after adding the hedges and a few flower beds. And there is still room for children to play on the grass! This view is from the inner corner of the lawn towards the car park.
